About Chris

Chris is inspired to help others achieve enduring, positive community change.

He began catalyzing community change as a journalist working in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Ohio. He transitioned from writing about about change to directly working on community change efforts in 2009. From 2012 to 2016, he was director of regional engagement for the Fund for Our Economic Future, a collaboration of philanthropy that supports economic initiatives in Northeast Ohio.

In that role, Chris worked with foundations, government officials, business leaders, educators and non-profit executives to design and support a wide variety of cross-sector collaborations to improve job creation, job preparation and job access outcomes. Chris wrote the Collaboration Handbook published by the Fund in October 2016.

Chris formed Civic Collaboration Consultants in 2015. Clients include foundations, United Ways, nonprofit organizations, governments and business groups. Chris also coaches organizational leaders on developing distinct skills essential to exercising collaborative civic leadership. He regularly presents on collaboration and collaborative leadership at national and regional conferences.

A native of San Francisco, Chris and his wife, Anne, have called Northeast Ohio home for 25 years. They have two grown children and two grandchildren. His preferred therapy for recovering from the rigors of cross-sector collaboration is to fly fish.
